There are two types of people. Those who dream about having an island getaway all to themselves and the ones who make it happen. Whether you are looking for a small piece or a large piece of a Caribbean paradise, Antigua is the best place to be.

What You Will Get

Since there is only so much land available, it is important to purchase some of the highly desirable land in Antigua while you still can. Just about anywhere in Antigua will give you incredible views so there should not be a problem in finding just the right land for you and your family.

And we are not just talking about nature in its most beautiful incarnation either because even God?s own images in Antigua are beautiful! You will see proof of this statement during the Antigua Carnival where men and women in various states of undress shake their booty to hypnotic African music.

What You Can Expect To Pay

The cost of the property that you look at in Antigua will depend on one thing normally and that is location. But that is just like anywhere else in the world as the location of the property is always a large determining factor in the cost of the land. Things such as the architecture styles of the house and how spacious it is will also play a contributing role in the cost of the purchase.

You will have to first purchase the Alien Landholding License which is around 5 percent of the value of the property. Then there is the Stamp Duty which is around 2.5 percent. And the Legal Fees which could be anywhere from 1 to 2 percent of the value of the property.

When it is all taken into consideration you may very well find yourself paying up to a quarter of the property value, just in fees and transaction costs alone. These are things to consider when shopping for the perfect property as it is always going to cost you more than the sticker price.

What You Need To Do

Even though it may start to sound like a lot to deal with, investing in property in Antigua really is not too complicated, especially since the government welcomes foreigners to purchase land.

While though you are welcomed to buy land, you still have to go through the standard procedures, which includes that Alien Land Holding License before the purchase can be completed. Since this process takes around three months, you can always explore the island and get to know the place a little better.

You may ask why Antigua is being promoted as a real property paradise investment haven, not its sister island of Barbuda. One reason: The government prohibits the sale of even a single rock in Barbuda!

Also, keep in mind that government being as it is anywhere in the world, the laws on buying real estate can be confounding to the average investor. You are better off hiring a property management service company that will handle the details and documents of the purchase.

Once you have the deeds to the house and the land it is time to consider what your next step is. Is it to redecorate the house or to landscape the yard? No, it is to simply enjoy your newly purchased island paradise and relax some.
This antigua villa article is brought to you by

Antigua villa listings. Properties and villas for sale land for sale and luxury villa rentals are available across the entire island of Antigua.

Joshua McDowell

Much has been made lately of the seemingly light sentence given to Donte Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns for his involvement in a drunk driving accident resulting in a pedestrians death. Stallworth was sentenced to ten years probation, thirty days jail, and a lifetime driving ban.

Many commentators and fans have suggested that this sentence was grossly unfair and a slap on the wrist when compared to Michael Vick’s sentence for his involvement in a dogfighting enterprise, for which he received 23 months in federal prison. Those who are outraged point to the fact that Stallworth got a mere 30 days in jail for his exceedingly reckless behavior that left a man dead, while Vick got slammed with 2 years in prison for conduct carried out mostly by Vick’s co-conspirators that harmed animals but not human beings.

However, an objective review of the facts of each case explain why the sentences in each case are reasonable given the factors surrounding each situation.

Lets look at the Stallworth case. First of all, the sentence is not all that light. Felony probation is no walk in the park. Probationers have someone involved in every area of their lives, including where they are, what they are doing, counseling, substance abuse counseling, etc. It is expensive, difficult and intrusive. Stallworth has to endure this for ten years. Stallworth also has a lifetime driving ban. Imagine how difficult it would be to never be able to drive, even for employment or childcare reasons. Save a handful of US cities, it is nearly impossible to lead a normal life without a drivers license. The thirty days in jail will not be pleasant for Stallworth, either.

Second, there was no malicious intent on the part of Stallworth. He had a car accident. Certainly he should not have been drinking and driving, but he did not intend to hurt anyone. Tens of thousands of people are ticketed for drunk driving every year, and they are just lucky that they did not hurt anyone. And these people get much less punishment than Stallworth.

Third, Stallworth was cooperative at all times with law enforcement. He called the cops. He admitted everything. He was contrite and apologetic from the very beginning. This makes a difference in plea negotiations, believe me. It makes Stallworth look less like a criminal and more like someone who made a mistake. This is huge since there is no reason to send a message to Stallworth with a lengthy prison sentence.

Finally, Stallworth paid a large monetary amount to the victims family for the victims wrongful death. Like it or not, money talks and b.s. walks. Prosecutors and judges are very responsive to the wishes of the victims family in these cases. The victims family wanted this sentence for Stallworth, and the victims family is very likely to get what they want in these types of cases.

Michael Vick had several factors working against him. First, as a federal case, the judge decides the sentence, not the prosecutor. In fact, the judge in Vick’s case gave Vick much more time than the prosecutors recommended. One is also more likely to get a harsher sentence in federal court than state court. Second, Vick initially denied his guilt and was not as forthcoming as Stallworth. Third, Vick’s crime indicated more of a criminal intent than Stallworth. Where Stallworth was irresponsible but not actually trying to hurt anyone, Vick was intentionally partaking in a bloodsport, which exhibited more malice in his heart. This is much more likely to incur a punitive prison sentence as opposed to a rehabilitative probation sentence. Finally, there is no denying the emotional impact of Vick’s crime, as the average person cannot imagine the blood lust of dogfighting, but the average person has at one point or another drank a little too much and drove.

When you view the cases as a whole, the disparate sentences become more understandable. Now, Commissioner Goodell’s decision to slam the Browns salary cap by $4.5 million, not so much. Punishing Stallworth is reasonable, but why punish his team?

Mr. Laybourne is a Colorado Springs lawyer, and former Deputy District Attorney. As a Colorado Springs attorney, his practice includes defense of felonies, misdemeanors, DUI, and all other criminal charges.

Cocos Island is one of the treasures of the planet. The famous Jacques Cousteau called this Costa Rica island the most beautiful island he had ever explored, Costa Ricans have selected this little national park one of its Seven Wonders, and it is being considered as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Though it is a small island located nearly 350 miles off the Costa Rica Pacific coast, it is world famous for its unique scuba diving. Indeed, its waters are filled with fish, porpoises, whales, and sea turtles, and there are sometimes so many sharks, it is often called Shark Island. Experienced scuba divers travel here from across the planet because it is renowned as the greatest place on earth to dive with large sea animals.

For centuries, the island has been famous for pirates, real and imagined. It is thought by some that it served as inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson’s famous pirate adventure Treasure Island but real pirates often sailed to it to get away from the English fleet and to bury treasure there. Indeed two great treasures, the Devonshire Treasure and the incredible Lima Treasure, were buried there and, to this day, may still be there. Buried treasure, hundreds of millions of dollars in gold and jewels, waiting for discovery.

It also fired the imagination of Michael Crichton whose world famous Jurassic Park is set off the coast of Costa Rica.

The island is very isolated, hundreds of miles from any other land. Except for a few Costa Rica park rangers who are there to prevent its waters from poaching, it is uninhabited. That isolation has protected its rainforest from destruction and for centuries its underwater splendor was also unmolested .

Only a few lucky people get to visit Cocos and if you want to go ashore, you will need previous permission from the rangers. Overnight camping is forbidden. But, no matter. As you walk the shores, looking out over the great Pacific, your imagination can soar. You’ll be walking the very shores that famous pirates hid buried treasure and you will not be alone. It is almost as if some of the stones themselves can talk for you are going to find rocks and boulders bearing the inscriptions of past sailors who left their moment of history behind, writing their names, the names of their ships and ports of call, even the dates. Sailors, long gone but not forgotten by the rocks. Like Kilroy, they were here, and will stay!

Writer Victor Krumm posts from his home in Costa Rica. Go to his very popular website about Costa Rica Vacations and be sure to look at the magnificent Seven Wonders of Costa Rica This and other unique content ‘costa rica’ articles are available with free reprint rights.

Set in the northern part of Europe, the country of Finland is bordered by Sweden, Norway, Russia, and the Gulf of Finland. It has an impressive 30,000 islands off its coast, and 188,000 island lakes, which makes this Nordic country renowned as one of Europe’s most striking. Still, regardless of such beauty, Finland’s past was tumultuous. At one time, it was caught in a tug-of-war between Sweden and Russia, and in fact, did not declare its independence until 1917.

Today, Finland’s residents enjoy a high standard of living, and Finland is a modern, progressive country. Its capital, Helsinki, was founded in 1550, and boasts cosmopolitan comforts and a vivacious nightlife. Whether you are into museums, a cruise through the archipelago, or just want a Finnish sauna, you will want to stop in Helsinki.

You will want to see Temppeliaukia Church, which brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen, literally carved into solid rock. It is one of Helsinki’s most famous tourist attractions. Another big favorite with visitors is the 18th century Sea Fortress, Soumenlinna. This structure was constructed in the 1740’s, and is one of the largest in the world.

Finland is home to more museums than anywhere else in the world, and two of the finest are the Ateneum Art Museum, and the National Museum. If a castle with a moat strikes your fancy, be sure to visit Hame Castle. It was built in the 13th century. In the 1830’s it converted to a prison but it has been restored, and is now a museum.

Built in 1950, the Helsinki Zoo, Korkeasaari, is one of the oldest in the world, and a big attraction. Another place visitors love is the Olympic Stadium, built in 1940. Because of WWII, the games were cancelled, but Finland eventually hosted the 1952 Olympics

St. Olaf’s Castle, Olavinlinna, is one of Finland’s better known attractions. This 500-year-old castle is balanced on the edge of a tiny green island lake, and looks like it came right out of a fairytale. The King’s Road is worth seeing, as well. Winding along the southern coastline, this road once connected Sweden and Russia, and still has many intact taverns, castles, manor houses, cottages, and stone churches.

If you want to see a medieval town, Turku is the oldest in Finland. This 750-year-old town was once the capital, and it has a restored, 13th century castle that’s now a Viking museum. Of course, no trip to Finland is complete without seeing Lapland. The Land of the Midnight Sun and the Northern Lights is a lightly populated wilderness, which offers open fells and hills, unpopulated forests, clear lakes, babbling brooks and frothing rapids. Make sure you try such delights as salmon and reindeer steak, cooked in a variety of ways, and sample some rare golden cloudberry wine. Lapland is the home of Santa Claus, so you definitely want to visit Santapark. It is St. Nick’s theme park!

The descendent of Latin, the language spoken in the Roman empire, Italian is now spoken by more than 60 million people. Unlike its ancestor, however, Italian has grammar that is considered much easier to learn.

Reasons for learning Italian range from preparing for a trip to Italy to retiring on the Italian coast. Many others learn Italian because their ancestors came from Italy or because they want an advantage in applying for jobs. No matter what your reason may be for learning Italian, learning a new language is a very rewarding process.

If you already speak another romance language like Spanish or French, you will find that Italian is very similar. Many linguists estimate that the lexical similarity between Italian and French is 89% while the lexical similarity between Italian and Spanish is 82%. Even if you have only studied Spanish or French in high school, you will find that the grammar is quite similar and easy to pick up.

English speakers worldwide think of Italian as a very beautiful language. Unlike English, Italian puts a lot of emphasis on vowel sounds and many Italian words have vowel sounds at the end.

Some differences in Italian from English include the fact that there are two genders for nouns: masculine and feminine. It will be necessary to learn which gender a noun is everytime you learn a new noun. You will also find that Italian verbs conjugate quite differently based on the subject.

Similarities, however, include word order. English and Italian have very similar word orders and both are considered to be subject-verb-object languages. You will find that it is very easy to start making Italian sentences even as a beginner.

Italian is a popular language to study so there is no shortage of materials to use for learning Italian. You can choose from computer software programs to traditional style classroom classes. Depending on your ultimate goals, you will want to find the tool that makes most sense for you.

If you decide to learn the beautiful Italian language, remember to make a serious commitment. Learning any foreign language can be a tough process but if you stick with it and make a consistent effort over a long period of time, you will continually improve your Italian abilities. That being said, don’t forget to relax and enjoy the language, as well! You can read a good Italian novel or listen to Italian music among many other fun activities. These practices will not only improve your Italian but can be some of the most fun and rewarding experiences for you in your Italian language pursuit.

In this part of our guide to holidays in Greece we focus on the basic tourist information that visitors should know…

Greece is located in Southern Europe and has extensive coastlines and islands in the Aegean, Ionian, and Mediterranean Seas. It offers a myriad of experiences, landscapes and activities and is famous for its beaches, reliable sunny summer weather, nightlife, historical sites and natural beauty.

It attracts more than 15 million visitors a year, making it one of the top 20 tourist destinations in the world, 90% of which visit come from other European countries (although in recent years there have been growing numbers of tourists from other world regions).

The most popular destinations include the capital, Athens, and the islands, especially Crete, Rhodes and Corfu. Some areas are very tourist orientated, but people seeking a quieter experience can still find places free from mass tourism.

The great bulk of visitors arrive in the tourism season, which runs from April through October and peaks in July and August. In the off-season, the bulk of Greece’s tourist infrastructure becomes dormant, particularly on the islands.

While Athens and Thessalonki handle most scheduled international flights, during tourism season charter and low-budget flights from a range of European cities arrive daily at many islands and smaller mainland cities.

A valid passport is necessary to enter Greece. Citizens of some non-EU countries may also need to obtain a visa, but citizens of the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand can stay as long as 90 days without needing a visa.

The country’s rates of theft and violence against visitors are relatively low and travelers are neither required nor advised to have immunization vaccinations prior to entering Greece.

Manually keeping score of a bowling game may seem like a complicated task, but it’s really just simple math — adding up the pins knocked down with each ball. In each frame, a bowler has two chances at knocking down the ten pins. There are ten frames in a game, and the player with the highest score at the end, wins.

If you are bowling at an alley without a scoring computer, you’ll probably be given a paper scoresheet. Before you start playing, record each players name in the appropriate area of the scoresheet.

All of the pins that are knocked down on a player’s first attempt are counted and recorded. In a bowling alley, a pin setter then removes the standing pins, clears the knocked-down pins, and then returns the remaining pins.

Once the pins are in position, the player takes their second attempt. The total number of pins knocked down (with both throws) is added to the score of the previous frame (if any), and the running total is recorded for the frame.

The frame area on most scoresheets is divided into two small boxes and one large box. The number of pins knocked down with each throw is recorded in the small boxes, and the running total is recorded in the large box.

As an example:

Joe knocks down six pins with his first throw, and two pins with his second. Joe’s score is eight for the frame.

On the second frame, Joe knocks down three pins on his first ball and five on his second, which makes his running total 16.

This simple scoring applies only when a player is unsuccessful in knocking down all ten pins in a frame. When they bowl a strike or a spare, they get bonus points, based on their performance on the next one or two balls.

Knocking down all ten pins on the first ball roll is known as a strike. Recording a strike requires marking an X for that frame; the players score will be the ten pins that they knocked down plus any other pins that are knocked down on the next two ball rolls. (You delay recording the score for that frame until the next one is completed).

The frame after the strike is scored as usual — adding the frame score to the previous frame to get the running total. Should the player bowl a second strike, scoring will have to be delayed until the first ball of the third frame is thrown.

A player that knocks down all ten pins on the second ball roll is noted as rolling a spare.

A spare should be recorded as a / for that frame, and a players score will be the ten pins that were knocked over plus what they knock over on the next roll.

The scores in a bowling game will continue to accumulate until each bowler plays all ten frames. If one bowler rolls a strike or spare on the 10th frame, then that bowlers score will continue to rise as the bowler throws rolls their bonus balls.

Once each player has finished the ten frames, all of their scores are added up to determine the winner.

Technological advances over the last couple of decades have helped the humble automobile transition from workhorse to a provider of comfort, luxury and ease. When you jump into a car you open up a wealth of options to assist us with your needs. Wireless communication technology helps to ensure that our journey is made more efficient through the use of a global positioning system.

The GPS, global positioning system, was originally developed for the Armed Forces. However, GPS for cars, originally introduced as a basic device to search for a particular location on a map, has become quite sophisticated and is now a great navigational aid.

Analyzing GPS for cars, we see that it works by monitoring 24 different, dedicated satellites high above the Earth’s orbit. The satellite’s revolve around us twice per day and are monitored by a variety of ground stations. The role of ground stations is to verify the signals and messages from the satellites and once verified, these are passed to receivers installed within each car.

Software installed within GPS for cars interprets the signal from the satellite. According to the location of the satellite and the time that the signal takes to reach the receiver, the actual position of the vehicle can be determined. The high degree of accuracy is determined according to triangulation ” with three satellites used to pinpoint the location. An even higher level of accuracy is guaranteed by the use of atomic clock synchronization between the satellite and the GPS system.

Why is GPS for cars so popular these days? There are several reasons including the most obvious. Due to the complexity of our road system these days we simply want to find the best route to our destination. The software is very adept at calculating the optimum distance and route immediately for us and will display this data back to us as we drive. Secondly, as time is of the essence in virtually everything we do these days the amount of time needed to get to a particular destination will also be displayed. Thirdly, at our roads are clogged by more and more cars on a daily basis the software has the capability of displaying traffic problems, when digitally linked through to the providers of such information.

Retailers often provide GPS for cars as a standard item, although you should know that some of the better units are available through independent retailers. These days, units can be configured in so many different ways and there is something available to suit every budget.

Technology can come to your assistance when you really need it. Should you be in the unfortunate position of having your automobile stolen, GPS for cars can come to your help. Complete information can be gleaned according to the destinations, speed and duration of the trip.

Remember some handy tips when considering GPS for cars. Firstly, always program you’re route before you leave for your destination. This is preferable as you will get the most efficient route from start to finish. Secondly, don’t try and make modifications when you are driving, as it can be dangerous. Pay all your attention to the road ahead. The software will give you adequate warning of any impending direction changes and has been specifically designed to take into account multiple lane changes and the potential for confusion around busier intersections.

Writer Daniel Stouffer would like to give you with more detailed information about gps for cars. GPS-catalog.com is a good resource for all GPS-related matters

For many people, New York is like the most important or fun place to be. Because of its metropolitan nature, New York is where most suburban dwellers want to go visiting. Besides this, it is also a hub of business activities as you have the famed Wall Street located there, and the twin towers. Recent estimates have shown that New York generates more than some third world countries budget per year. It also has the highest number of skyscrapers concentrated in one territory.

Often dubbed an ‘urban jungle’, it is home to more than 20 million people and amazingly, the metropolitan state seems to have more room for visitors, business executives, vacationers and tourists. New York City has a lot of attractions. In fact, it is said that you could spend three years in New York doing nothing except sightseeing and still not see every vacation spot or attraction sites. Some of New Yorks main attractions are partly responsible for its global popularity and these include:

1. Statue of Liberty This statue represents or symbolizes democracy in the modern world. According to history, the statue signified hope for the immigrants who crossed through Ellis Island. A gift from the French government over a hundred years ago, it was meant to signify freedom which America stands for. Sculpted by the Frdric-Auguste Bartholdi, the steel Framework was built by the creator of the Eiffel tower, Gustav Eiffel and is about 305 ft altogether. To get to the top of the statue, a visitor would have to climb three hundred and fifty four steps. Tourists interested in getting into the monument can purchase one time tickets.

2. Empire State Building The empire state building is possibly the most popular building in New York. Once called the tallest building in the world -it is about one thousand, two hundred and fifty feet high -and named the 8th wonder of the world, many say it signifies or represents what was meant to be carried out when man decided to build the tower of Babel. The empire state building became extremely popular after the movie King Kong was shot in 1933. At the time, it was dubbed the tallest building. However, the mystery surrounding it still counts for visits from over two million visitors annually.

3. Central Park This major tourist centre occupies three hundred and forty one hectares of land is synonymous with its name in its location at the centre of Manhattan. Located between 5th and 8th avenue, central park consists of ice rinks for those who want to skate, theatres, baseball fields, fountains, lakes, a Zoo, a museum, tennis courts and a host of facilities. And the best part of central park is access to it is free of charge. A must see as part of a New York City vacation package.

4. Fifth Avenue For those who love shopping, 5th Ave is an awesome place to be. Located between the 49th and 59th streets, its like a concentration of designer stores such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Ferragamo, Prada and Versace. If you are looking for jewelleries, you will find Bulgari shops, Cartier and a host of other jewellers.

Provides Las Vegas vacation packages and travel insurance for your next exclusive getaway. Just one of the many benefits to having a CAA membership.
